BLASTER BRIEF: GameFace Geon
By David Schaap
Our order was cancelled. Our money was refunded. But the Geon doesn't care. The Geon shows up mysteriously despite the order void notices from Amazon. The Geon doesn't apologize for being elusive or sneaky, or for being competition ready out of the box. The Geon just promises to be your 'perfect back-up blaster' and keep you 'battle ready.' And the Geon delivers, even when Amazon doesn't.
After a confusing exchange, the Game Face Geon has finally touched down at Foam Base and we're certainly glad it did. The blaster arrived handsomely packaged with two 10-round magazines and 20 half-length darts included. As promised, the blaster is operational right out of the box with no tools or assembly required. It boasts a slew of tactical features: built-in low profile iron sights, a self-return slide and 'slide lock' for easily clearing jams and John Wick style reloads, and a picatinny-style under barrel rail; enough to make any performance based Nerfer pleased. The included magazines are a new proprietary design from GameFace. While not compatible with the 'Prime' or 'Trion' Blasters, the new mags are very sleek, easy to load, and seat almost seamlessly into the magwell, making for a very comfortable grip. After about 20 minutes of pretending to be the protagonist of The Matrix 5 fan-movie we wrote at our local coffee shop, we rattled a few darts through the ol' chronograph (seriously, we need a new one) and got an average reading of 112 FPS. That puts this foam dart combat master right up there next to the DZ Pro Mk II! Not too shabby for the first sidearm offering from GameFace.
We are fans of honesty and full disclosure here at Foam Base, so we do need to mention that we did experience a number of jams when operating this blaster for testing. It seems the slide on the unit we received wasn't "catching" upon rechambering, making the blaster almost impossible to operate, as the trigger pull would not release the catch to activate the internal spring. This issue could be just with our blaster, but buyer beware. We all love our Trions and look forward to more exciting products from the brilliant minds over at GameFace so be sure to grab your Geon here on the GameFace official website, and keep following Foam Base for all your foam flinging news, and entertainment.
